Where to get married in Italy on a budget

Over the years we have been asked many times the same questions about budget weddings in Italy and more in general getting married in Italy. In this page we tried to clarify the most common doubts; should you have a new one don't hesitate to ask !

Where to get married in Italy on a budget ?

You can arrange a budget wedding in Italy in any Italian region. In the Italian Lakes for a sophisticated Italian wedding, in one of the Italian Art masterpieces like Rome, Florence or Venice, in the unspoiled Italian Riviera, in the rolling hills of Tuscany, in the renowned Amalfi Coast and in the wonderful islands of Sicily and Sardinia, Italian incomparable gems.
There are no magic in arranging an affordable wedding in Italy but it is more an accurate selection of venues, services and dates; keeping in mind that some specific spots of Italy like for example Lake Como, Portofino, Ravello, Capri are more expansive than others.

Where can I get married in Italy ?

You can get married anywhere in Italy :-)
Please note though the civil weddings can only be held in the town Wedding Hall or in a venue designated by the local municipality for wedding ceremonies.
Catholic weddings can only be celebrated in a Church.
Protestant weddings and Symbolic weddings can be celebrated at any private venue.

How much does a wedding in Italy cost ?

Estimating a wedding costs is an hard task because there are so many variables involved; this is true in Italy as for any other wedding destination. It is easier to provide a "starting at" price. Based on our experience costs for a legal wedding with professional suppliers "start at":

  • Town Hall Fee: Euro 200
  • Wedding Planning: Euro 1,500
  • Wedding Dinner: Euro 60 per person
  • Photo Service (8 hours): Euro 1,500
  • Video Service (8 hours): Euro 2,000 
  • Bouquet: Euro 100
  • Music (DJ): Euro 600
  • Music (Classic soloist): Euro 250
  • Music (Band): Euro 1,500

How much does a Lake Como wedding cost ?

Lake Como is one of the most expansive spots of Italy and therefore prices are higher than in other Italian regions. In particular Town Hall fee are very expansive (most of them higher than Euro 1,000) and most of the private venues (villas, hotels, palaces) apply very expansive fee (starting at Euro 5,000). 

Lake Como is a challenging location for a budget wedding in Italy but we manage to organize cheap and chic weddings on this wonderful lake too.

Can foreigners marry in Italy ?

Most of the foreigners can get married in any regions of Italy. There are some exception for a few countries like for example India and Israel whose citizens can find difficult getting legally married in Italy.

Can I legally get married in Italy ?

There are some exceptions for a few countries like for example India and Israel whose citizens can find difficult getting legally married in Italy.

How long do I have to be in Italy to get married ?

We suggest all couples to arrive in Italy a few days before the event to get familiar with the chosen location and the wedding venue. Main constraints as follows:

  • For a Civil (i.e. legal) wedding you need to visit the Town Hall at least 1-2 days before the wedding for the so-called "declaration of intent to get married", Depending on your nationality you may need to arrive even earlier to complete your paperwork.
  • For a Catholic or Protestant blessing you need to arrive in Italy 1-2 days before the wedding so that you have the option to meet with the priest / reverend for the rehearsal.
  • For a Symbolic wedding there are no specific constraints.

What documents do I need to marry in Italy ?

In order to arrange a Civil wedding in Italy you are required to go through a specific paperwork that it is based on the nationalities of the spouses. As part of our duties we will guide you step by step through the process.
